AMET Logo Refresh - An Example of the Process

AMET is an automated welding manufacturer providing welders for Caterpillar, Ford, John Deere and many others. Below is the process we used to redesign their logo for more appeal, greater flexibility and simpler usage in various applications.

Our logo redesign process varies by client and project requirement, but generally includes the following steps:

1 - Retain Brand Equity

With a rebrand, we obviously start with the historic logo (below), and determine how to retain visual equity. Here, we retained the upper case letters and larger initial cap proportion. We also consider usability of the logo: in this case stamped, cut, and fabricated.

2 - explore Brand identity / Logo Design

From the existing logo, business objectives and competitor's positioning, we sketch a range of logo options. At the end of our exploration, we provide the best options in a rough digital format for client review.

3 - final Design Direction

Based on client feedback and/or user testing, we refine the new logo for final review, then provide final artwork in a range of digital formats. For some clients, this is the final step.

4 - Business Card Design

For many clients, we use the established logo to create business cards, stationery, or collateral. We typically oversee design all the way through production, which may include working with printers to provide press ready digital artwork.

5 - Custom Logo Applications

As a final deliverable, we frequently work with clients to apply their new logo in a way that works for their business. We provide logo formats which import to CAD or Solidworks, making fabrication an easy transition.
